Intility Arena Goes Fully Circular with Stadium-Wide Reusable Cups
Intility Arena has completed a full stadium rollout of its TOMRA Reuse reusable cup system, covering all kiosks across the main tribunes. Fans can return cups at 13 automated collection points or donate their deposit via dedicated bins. The move marks a significant step in the venue's sustainability drive.
A Stadium-Wide Step Forward for Sustainability
Intility Arena has completed a full rollout of its reusable cup system, making it one of Norway's most environmentally progressive football venues. Following a pilot scheme in a previous season, Vålerenga's Oslo home has now expanded the TOMRA Reuse programme to all kiosks located within the stadium's main tribunes.
Every cold drink purchased at those outlets is now served in a reusable cup, part of a closed-loop system designed to drastically cut down on single-use plastic at large sporting events.
How the System Works
Fans returning their cups can do so at any one of 13 automated "Throw&Go" collection points, which have been strategically positioned near exits and kiosks throughout the stadium. The process is designed to be quick and convenient, removing any friction from the fan experience while delivering a meaningful environmental benefit.
For supporters who want to go a step further, the club also provides dedicated manual drop-off bins where fans can choose to donate their cup deposit to a good cause rather than reclaiming it at the gate.
Setting a New Standard for Norwegian Football
The initiative reflects a broader commitment at Intility Arena to making the matchday experience sustainable without compromising on comfort or convenience. With tens of thousands of cups potentially in circulation on a busy home match weekend, the cumulative environmental impact of the scheme is significant.
As Intility Arena moves into the final weeks of a packed autumn fixture schedule — with both women's and men's football still to come — the reusable cup rollout means every match is now a greener one for the club and its supporters.
