Sold-Out Intility Arena Silenced as Glimt Edge Past Vålerenga
Bodø/Glimt defeated Vålerenga 2–1 at a packed Intility Arena on 8 August, in front of a sell-out crowd of 16,556. The showpiece Eliteserien Round 17 clash was the first major fixture played on the stadium's brand-new artificial surface. All three points headed north, but the occasion itself was a statement of intent from Oslo's east end.
A Full House on the New Pitch
Intility Arena was packed to its 16,556 capacity on Saturday, 8 August, as Vålerenga hosted Bodø/Glimt in Round 17 of the Eliteserien. Every seat was taken, the new artificial surface gleamed underfoot, and the atmosphere lived up to every expectation that had built during the summer break.
The visitors, one of the Eliteserien's strongest sides, ultimately edged out the contest 2–1, leaving Oslo with all three points. It was a tight, high-stakes affair that underlined just how competitive the title race remains in the second half of the season.
The Occasion Delivered on Every Level
For Vålerenga's supporters, the afternoon was a reminder of what Intility Arena does best. The Østblokka and Oslotaxi Tribune were exclusively reserved for home fans, creating a wall of noise behind the goals, while away supporters were housed in the designated sections at fields 201 and 202.
The match took place in warm Oslo summer conditions — 18°C at kick-off — making for ideal viewing across all four stands. Demand for tickets had been high from the moment they went on sale, and the sold-out crowd confirmed the fixture's status as the standout home date of the 2026 season so far.
A New Surface, A Fresh Ambition
The Bodø/Glimt match was the first major test for Intility Arena's newly laid artificial pitch, installed during the Eliteserien's summer break. The upgrade signals clear ambition ahead of what promises to be a landmark autumn at Valle Hovin.
Molde are next to visit on 29 August, followed later in the season by Fredrikstad, Brann, Tromsø, and Rosenborg — the latter pencilled in for as late as 6 December. Vålerenga Women also have key Toppserien fixtures at the arena, including a home tie against Hønefoss W on 19 August.
With the new surface bedded in and the crowd proving it can fill every corner of the 16,556-seat ground, Intility Arena heads into the autumn in the best possible shape.
